Abstract :
Traditional shared bus-based communication approach to System-On-Chip (SoC) poses a number of challenges. These include lack of scalability, clock delay, lack of support for concurrent communication, power consumption etc. Network-On-Chip (NoC) communication architecture has emerged as a solution to these problems, however, a NoC communication requirement such as bandwidth is affected by architecture parameters such as topology, routing, buffer size, etc. In this paper, we introduce an adaptive approach of NoC, called ANoC, to solve communication problem posed by static method. Such problems include routing delay, lack of flexibility and inability to predict dynamic behaviour of the applications. The adaptive approach supports several applications by changing parameters at runtime.
