Abstract :
Three new methods for fitting ellipses to regions are presented. They are based on the measurements of the support function of the region. The fitted ellipse is the one that: (1) minimizes the support function error, (2) circumscribes the region or (3) is inscribed in the region. These methods have the advantage of fitting an ellipse to a region without the need of the contour. They can be used on incomplete ellipses. Results are presented on simulated data and a real nuclear medicine image of the myocardium
