Abstract :
This article presents an analysis on surface acoustic waves in a magnetoelectric half-space rotating at a constant angular rate about a fixed axis. The coupled differential equations of motion are solved, and the equations of phase velocity are obtained based on linear magnetoelectric theory, with consideration of Coriolis and centrifugal forces. The wave velocity changed by rotation is studied. Numerical results for magnetoelectric composite BaTiO3-CoFe2O4 are presented to show the characteristics of the rotation sensitivity. Furthermore, we obtain the Rayleigh wave velocity and BG wave speed when the body is not rotation. Obtained results are valuable for the analysis and design of magnetoelectric gyroscopes.
