The Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS) that will be launched by National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA) in 2002. The Geographical Survey Institute (GSI) is now considering using ALOS imagery for cartography (especially updating topographical maps), regional observation and disaster monitoring
