Abstract :
Application specific multispectral imaging uses a limited number of hyperspectral (narrow) bands tasked in multispectral manner. The set of hyperspectral bands, matched to the specific target/background contrast for the scene (application), are generally no more than four in number although any number can be used. This approach, which combines the contrast enhancement of hyperspectral bands with cost effective commercial large format CCD framing cameras, has been applied to land uses, coastal mapping and, most recently, to underwater mapping
