Abstract :
This paper is devoted to the examination of system capacity, when two CINR-based cognitive radio schemes are implemented for multiple high altitude platforms operating in the mm-wave bands. Separate and combined performance of the schemes is evaluated. It shows that both CINR information assisted strategies with steerable user antennas can achieve superior capacity performance in terms of channel quality and trunking capability respectively. It is also shown that both schemes can be operated simultaneously in a non-cooperative way within a shared spectrum environment, without significant loss of capacity. The impact on the system performance of traffic load, CINR threshold and threshold difference, when the intelligence of user terminals is assumed is also presented.
