Abstract
This paper presents an approach to dynamic optimization of an emulsion polymerization reactor. The reactor can be described as a strongly non-linear hybrid system with three dynamical modes. We describe a detailed process model described by 7 differential equations. To solve the problem, we apply control vector parametrization (CVP) method and calculate necessary information for non-linear programming (NLP) solvers using theory of optimal control according to Pontryagin´s maximum principle.
