Abstract :
Rapid advances in technology in recent years have undoubtedly delivered both measurable and perceived benefits to our traffic and travel solutions. Nevertheless the full potential of the systems underpinning these solutions to date may not have been harnessed to their full extent. This paper explores how the application of enterprise level common databases has been applied in recent projects in the form of common data management facilities to deliver timely and reliable traffic and travel information (both real time and historical) derived from data held in previously autonomous and discreet systems, both new and legacy.
