Abstract :
Perpendicular recording is one of the techniques proposed for next generation drives. Understanding of the writing and reading effects that are unique to perpendicular recording system is important for integrating the technology into drives. In this paper the side-reading behavior of GMR sensor in perpendicular system is studied with a fully functional perpendicular drive. A previously developed drive level testing system is utilized for data acquisition.
