Abstract
The sea state affects the texture of radar sea surface images. Property extraction based on image statistics, an important element of image analysis, is used to distinguish between different, textures. The connection between statistical properties and significant wave height (H m0) is investigated. The experiences from this analysis are then used for estimating Hm0 from the image statistics. The radar sea surface images used in the analysis are collected with a standard X-band navigation radar from the Gullfaks C (GFC) oil production platform in the North Sea. Reference wave data have been collected with a MIROS Wave Radar Mk II in the same period
