  • Abstract
Oceanographic studies of large bodies of water usually require remotely acquired aerial imagery as the primary data source for analyses of sea bed depth, ocean current, etc. Removal of ocean wave clutters from these images is an important preprocessing step for accurate assessment of the oceanographic information. The objective of this paper is to make use of the wavelet-Radon (X-ray) transform for directional denoising along the propagational direction of ocean waves. Image pixels are projected to the the direction of wave propagation, to be denoised using wavelet thresholding techniques. As expected, the authors´ experiments show that one can remove some amount of wave clutter with the least background distortion when the rotational transform is along the direction of ocean wave propogation
