Abstract :
This paper presents a direct and simple method to determine the “effective” velocity in the hyperbolic slant range equation used in processing of space-borne SAR data. The algorithm first uses the orbit state vector to generate the actual instantaneous slant range as a function of azimuth time, for a selected point on the ground. This is followed by fitting the set of slant ranges with a hyperbolic model, which is used in most SAR processing algorithms
