Abstract
Next-generation wireless systems (NGWS) integrate different wireless networks, to provide better accessibility among the mobile users. In cellular systems, Traffic load is not uniformly distributed in service areas but can be concentrated in particular region. It is an important and challenging issue to support seamless mobility management in the NGWS. In this paper, received signal strength has been analyzed and to provide required handoff to avoid the call failure. Initially the handoff requirement is studied so that initiation of handoff based on distance is done. Next to it, the handoff is managed with the velocity of mobile equipment irrespective of cell size, so that it is performed well for both micro and macro cell environment. As the velocity changes the received signal strength is determined in such a way that the seamless communication can occur. Result shows its performance. Also the adaptability for handoff in various conditions has the significant result. Finally the comparison among fixed and adaptive signal strength has been observed.
