Abstract
Biofouling continues to be one of the most significant factors limiting the long term deployment of oceanographic instrumentation. The traditional methods of biofouling control have proven to be unsuitable for oceanographic instruments due to limited efficacy, toxicity and lack of optical clarity. The ClearSignal biofouling control system was specifically engineered and tested to meet the requirements of oceanographic instrumentation. The extensive use of the ClearSignal system demonstrates the effectiveness of the implementation of this technology.
