Abstract :
Ad hoc communications are attracting more and more attention in today´s research and technology, because of low cost implementation, and simple initialization procedures. They are being projected to be used in several fields such as collaborative computing and disaster recovery environments. However, route instabilities and scalability are issues that still need to be addressed. In this paper we implement a real world emergency scenario using MANET. We use our test bed and set up a scenario where a moving node (robot) is entering rooms, in order to check the situation in case of emergency. We evaluate the network in terms of throughput, comparing data with the static version of the scenario and different destination nodes. The results confirm some aspects of MANET and bring new results about MANET communications in emergency situations.
