Abstract
Measurements and control system of a crawler based underwater mining machine integrated with data acquisition is the objective of this paper. The crawler is an underwater mining machine which is deployed at the sea bed 6000 m deep from mother ship for mining the Polymetallic nodules (PMN). However, to prove and qualify the collector crusher concept, it is proposed to carry out the test with artificial nodules at 500 m depth. The transducers and sensors mounted on it, measures the in-situ parameters of ocean and system parameters for monitoring, data logging and controlling the operation of mining machine.
