Abstract :
In this paper, a rectangular waveguide periodically filled with ferrite is proposed as a new type of LH transmission line. The surface wave mode can propagate in the rectangular waveguide periodically filled with ferrite slabs at frequencies below the cut-off. The new mechanism of wave propagation in the LH transmission line was found that it shows the chain behavior of evanescent modes along the waveguide. The LH transmission line proposed in the paper may be useful for applications to compact ferrite phase shifters and resonators.
