Abstract :
FePt nanoparticles formed through polyol reduction are annealed to convert the internal particle structure from a chemically disordered face-centered cubic (fcc) phase to the chemically ordered face-centered tetragonal (fct or L10) phase. During the same process, nanoparticle superlattices are transformed into ferromagnetic nanoparticle assemblies. The novel synthetic procedure to control the size of FePt nanoparticles by changing the precursor and/or the reaction procedure is also studied.
