Abstract :
In the open access restructured power market, it is necessary to develop an appropriate pricing scheme that can provide the useful economic information to market participants, such as generation, transmission companies and customers. The present work addresses the problem of allocating the cost of the transmission network to generators and demands using a real coded Genetic Algorithm(GA). To redistribute the power flows and to ensure that the cost is minimized, the power flows are worked with GA. The proposed GA approach is compared with Postage Stamp method, MW-Km Method and MVA-Km Method. The MVA-Km method applies AC power flow solution and considers apparent power flows to determine how line flows depend on nodal currents. This result is then used to allocate network costs to GENCO´s TRANSCO´s and DISCO´s. 4-bus, 6-bus, IEEE 14-bus and IEEE-30 bus systems are used to illustrate the proposed approach. A comparison between MVA-Km Method using AC load flow solution and GA are finally presented and are found encouraging.
