Abstract :
This paper analyzes the cooling effect of the existing wind in the vicinity of overhead power lines required for evacuation of energy generated by wind farms. In these facilities, the correlation between the generated power and wind conditions allow to draw some interesting conclusions. There is evidence that in many cases, taking into account this effect on the calculation of the transfer capability of overhead lines, the conductor cross-section can be reduced significantly, thereby reducing the installation costs. In this work, a methodology to address this issue is proposed. The significance of the results is justified with the application to a real case.
