Abstract
This paper proposes a combining spatial enhancement method (CSEM) for low illumination images. The low illumination images are low contrast and images grayscale range are very narrow. There are two requirements of images enhancement: enhancing image local contrast and adjusting the dynamic range of the gray level. From the simulation results, the proposed method shows better enhancement performance and significant reduction in the computational cost. So, the proposed method can be used in the images captured by monitoring system in the low illumination environment.
