Abstract
Switched reluctance machines (hereafter, abbreviates with SRM) have neither a permanent magnet nor the second winding in the rotor. These motors are mechanically robust and have low inertia because of a simple salient rotor structure. SRMs have fast acceleration characteristics and low power loss at low torque load. In this paper, a mathematical modeling method based on measured magnetization curves has been proposed. Based on the proposed expression, rotational angular position is estimated. It is found that the estimation error can be reduced as low as 1 deg.
