Abstract :
This paper proposes a simulation-based designing method for microgrid systems with rechargeable batteries. The design method is novel in that it consists of the following factors: a) a time-marching simulation system of a microgrid, which demonstrates the management of batteries, b) battery management algorithm to level the electric load, and c) the method to quantitatively evaluate microgrids based on the simulation results. We applied this design method to a resort community in Japan using the actual data, and proposed specific design options of a microgrid to be implemented in the community.
