Abstract :
Design of Low Noise Amplifiers (LNA) is usually done without considering the effect of electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection circuitry, even though the protection circuitry is an essential and integral part of the system performance. In this paper, we demonstrate the importance of co-design of the protection circuitry and the LNA, with a theoretical derivation for optimization of LNA performance. Simulation, using TSMC 0.25um process, is used to validate the theory.
