Abstract :
This paper emphasizes on the implementation of active management scheme to the distribution system with optimal dispatchable distributed generation (DG). The objective function is to minimize the total cost of the active power generated by the DG units. The optimization problem is subject to system constraints consisting of voltage limits, feeder capability limits, generation-demand balance, active and reactive of the distributed generation units limits. The problem is considered as an optimal power flow (OPF) problem and solved by particle swarm optimization. The performance of the proposed technique is demonstrated by practical distribution system of Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), Thailand. The study results show that the optimal dispatch schedule of the distributed generation can gives the minimum total cost of generation while satisfying all the constraints and benefiting greatly from savings in power loss reduction.
