Abstract :
This paper discusses the use of transformer leakage inductance and load inductance as a method of controlling welding current. In other words, the excitation frequency is adjusted to control welding current. The authors first shorted the secondary of the transformer and observed primary current while varying the excitation frequency. Results demonstrate that a frequency-controlled variable-current power source is possible, as described below.
