Abstract :
Presently, the most synchronous generator´s exciters are based on the use a reverse synchronous generator which feeds the revolving field cross a three-phase diodes bridge. These structures are often controlled by a traditional Proportional Integral Derivative controller. In this paper, a new excitation structure using a permanent magnet synchronous generator is presented and the synchronous generator output voltage control is achieved by using a predictive strategy. The proposed structure allows not only to improve signal quality but thanks to the involved controller, some other interesting effects such as time response reduction are also obtained. An experimental validation is provided to illustrate the proposed structure efficiency compared to the classical approach.
