Abstract
This paper deals with evaluation of the moisture content in the insulation of power transformer. There is an occurrence of Polarization that leads to chemical variations in the insulation and conduction instigated due to the occurrence of impurities or contaminants in the insulation system. Moisture, oxygen, high temperature and contaminations of these are the vital parameters leading to the failure of the transformer. This in turn mainly reduces the dielectric strength of the solid insulation system and with an increase in temperature may deteriorate the insulation strength as it ages. The main factor for deterioration is moisture. This paper discusses the experimental method and results of Recover voltage measurement in order to assess the moisture content. The different samples considered for experimental analysis are Kraft and Aramid of paper insulation and Novel G-Paek of polymer insulations.
