Abstract
The cylindrical dielectric waveguide with a periodically varying radius has been analyzed numerically. The leakage characteristics of the lowest TE-type wave are investigated for the high-permittivity cores. It is shown that the large leakage does not take place in the waveguide with high-permittivity core and the characteristics are influenced by the second lowest TE-type wave
