Abstract
The objective of this paper is to present an evaluation related to the possible application of the Feed-in and Net metering tariffs into microgrid systems. Microgrid systems are currently among the options considered to support the network especially during periods of blackout. Critical loads in various areas (e.g. military bases, health centers, nuclear installations, etc) operate already under a microgrid scheme. However, an important issue still to be sorted out is the way that it will negotiate its surplus energy when connected to the utility. This article will show that the application of the main incentive policies and clean energy tariffs currently available will need some adaptations if they are to be applied on microgrid systems.
