Abstract :
The spreading of molecularly thin lubricant films on magnetic disk surfaces is of great importance due to its significant impact on the tribological performance of magnetic disk drives. In this paper, by measuring thickness and adhesion force distributions in the spreading region of a molecularly thin lubricant film, the correlation between spreading characteristics and adhesion force is revealed.
