Abstract :
In recent years, the demand for real-time multi-media service in WLAN environment rapidly increases due to the Wi-Fi smart phone user growth. In order to transmit real-time multimedia to many users, broadcast transmission is more efficient than unicast transmission. However, broadcast transmission without retransmissions leads to the higher loss rate in real wireless environments. In this paper, we propose a smart phone-based reliable multimedia transmission system with packet-level forward error correction scheme using Reed-Solomon code. According to our experimental results, the system shows the average packet delivery ratio between 90% and 95% regardless of interference strength.
