Abstract
The responsiveness of free surface flow to In-mold electromagnetic stirring (M-EMS) exciting frequency is reported in this paper. Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) calculation simulates fluid dynamic field coupled with electromagnetic field. As the MHD calculation result with exciting frequency 1 Hz and 5 Hz, the free surface level in this series and space as contour expression. X-axis is distance around mold, Y-axis is time series and contour range express the free surface level. The free surface level responds to exciting frequency in 1 Hz regularly, because white part is repeated 4 times in 2 second. Responsive ratio is changed by exciting frequency and it is high in low frequency zone. Moreover, the free surface flow is believed to resonate with natural frequency of mold, and hence it must be considered the resonance with it, in of coil design.
