Abstract :
This paper explains how to adaptively adjust the sidelobe level of a planar array by changing the thinning configuration. The directivity decreases with additional thinning, but the relative sidelobe level also goes down, so there is an overall increase in the signal to interference ratio. To reduce the number of active elements, the same elements are turned off for each thinning configuration.
