  • Abstract
The authors focus on critical areas of communications systems performability such as human aspects, software production, and reliability growth. As an example, network survivability is shown as a predecessor of performability, which needs to be fully understood in order to achieve full customer satisfaction. High-performability topical opportunities, such as testing based on customer application prototyping (CAP), are explored. Solutions for high performability are developed and include error code correction, data shadowing, and multiple parallel data manipulation using dedicated hardware fault-tolerant solutions or software fault-tolerant solutions. A policy for software scrapping, error sensitivity, and several keys to success are presented in the form of specific metrics/measurements
