Abstract
In magnetic tape recording systems, dropouts occur occasionally in readback signals, due to defects on the tape surface. In this paper, we compensate the dropouts by selecting one of pre-calculated equalizers according to detected envelope. Timing recovery is held from updating during dropouts.
