Abstract
In this paper, significant improvements in recording media performance were obtained by utilizing ferromagnetically exchanged coupled bilayers. Two quaternary alloys (CoPtCrTa and CoPtCrB) were employed to achieve high performance recording layer. The net magnetic properties and recording alloy performance were optimized by controlling the thickness ratio.
