Abstract
Assistive Technology plays a vital role in the lives of people with severe disabilities. It helps them to lead an independent self-supporting life. Disabled persons as a result of causes traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries to stroke and cerebral palsy are find it difficult to carry out everyday tasks without continuous help. Already thereexist a speech recognition system which provide support to the physically disabled people. But those people who cannot communicate through speech can use the tongue motion to control the environment. In this system for the speech recognition, voice is given as input to the headset with microphone near the user´s cheek which is connected with the mobile. So the signal from the mobile is transferred to the microcontroller using the Bluetooth module, and this microcontroller will control the appliances. For the tongue motion, four sensors are fixed in the teeth of the patient and when the patient touches the sensor the signal sends to the microcontroller and microcontroller will control the environment.
