Abstract :
The growth in the educational sector has led to the foundation of various Universities/Institutes world-wide. Transportation being a key component to connect the students, requires a smart monitoring system to estimate the perfect utilization of the resource of the organisation. The proposed system brings a Smart Informant System (SIS) consist of two functional unit a server PC and On board PC communicating each other using a ZigBee module. The server PC having a Front-End application helps in maintaining the complete data base of the transports including the daily report of the In and Out timing of the transports, routes it cover, no. of students it takes from the assigned route and the driver details with a special notification to ensure the DL expiry. The On-Board PC fitted over the dash board is enabled with a LCD display and a pair of IR sensors over the gate for the student count has a control over authorizing the drivers for the bus start-up using RFID card and updating the driver´s information and the student count over the used microcontroller PIC16F877A.
