  • Abstract
Medical imaging has relevance as several techniques such as MRI, CT-scan, laparoscopic and endoscopic surgeries and cancer diagnosis tools are being used currently. We review different approaches for segmentation of images which are having vague boundaries between regions. The traditional segmentation techniques exhibit weak performance on edgeless images such as histology images. This paper briefly describes a few methods for segmentation of such images like images of tissues. We analyze some traditional segmentation techniques for histology image segmentation and relate them with the recent framework that performs well on histology dataset. We describe the methods which are helpful for diagnosing cancer and tumors by looking for malignant tissues.
