Abstract :
The recent control scheme of wind turbines are designed for maximum wind power extraction is no longer suitable for grid frequency regulation. The control scheme of wind turbines are provided in most of the studies such as those on pitch control. The use of energy storage system makes the system to store huge amount of energy during off peak hour and inject during peak hours to the grid. A power system consisting of a high penetration of wind generation and energy storage systems (ESS) is investigated in this paper for the regulation of grid frequency. In this paper SOC feedback control is used in order to improve the life time of the battery. The model of the power system studied in this paper is established on the MATLAB/SIMULINK platform.
