Abstract :
Magnetic properties of thermally sensitized stainless steels with different composition were investigated and the relation between these properties and Cr concentration was clarified. Magnetization curves showed that after aging, ferromagnetic hysteresis appeared and saturation magnetization increases with aging time. Ferromagnetic martensite phase appeared along the grain boundary by sensitization and disappeared by healing for type 304 steels but were not confirmed for type 316 steels. These behaviors were explained by the change of martensitic transition temperature due to sensitization.
