Abstract
This paper focuses on nonlinear plants with long dead-time and unknown parameters which are dependent on known variables. A compound fuzzy adaptive controller is proposed which is based on Smith predictor and model-reference adaptation. Different with the theoretical robust controllers for nonlinear plants with time delays, the controller has good engineering generality and is easy to implement. High dynamical performance can be obtained for the control system, as well as the stability and convergence properties are theoretically proofed
