Abstract
In this paper, as the variable structure process, the fluidized catalytic cracking unit reactor-regenerator and petroleum distillation column are introduced. For these variable structure processes, the hierarchical control system is a suitable architecture. The application of multivariable predictive coordinated control was illustrated for the control and optimization of these two processes. The advantages of applying the variable structure control to several commercial plants are shown
