Abstract
Geographic routing is an attractive localized routing scheme for wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Most WSNs are consisted of nodes which are all limited in power, so how to employ a proper routing protocol to save energy consumption is a hot topic for research. In this paper, a balance-aware energy-efficient geographic routing protocol BEGR is proposed. Both energy consumption in communication and residual energy at nodes are considered in BEGR. We prove that our protocol is loop-free and can adapt to dynamic scenarios. Simulation results demonstrate that BEGR is better than other protocols in prolonging network lifetime greatly based on first-dead time.
