TeleRegions: application of telematics in cardiac care

This paper discusses an application which has been developed to enable the transmission of cardiovascular image sequences to a remote site, co-operative viewing and discussion of clinical cases between the two centres using audio and video-conferencing, and simultaneous review and annotation of the image sequences. This system uses open standards such as DICOM, TCP/IP and ISDN to facilitate integration with existing systems and hospital equipment.
