Abstract
A dual loop control for continuous mode laser drivers used in 3.125 GHz optical communication applications is presented. The dual loop control and the laser driver are implemented in IBM SiGe 5HP technology using a 3.3V-supply. The chip includes automatic average power and modulation control loops, as well as a novel temperature compensated transimpedance amplifier. Simulation and measurement results are presented.
