Abstract
Wireless sensor networks (wsn) can be added to existing networked control systems (ncs) to supervise a new or remote part of factory premises. The resulting deployment is a heterogeneous supervision network. Given a set of desired high-level operations (monitoring, actuation, control), we propose a middleware approach that allows users to configure, operate and provide performance guarantees for operations without any coding. Experimental results are obtained in a factory setting with a ncs and two wsn operating together in a single heterogeneous network, and show that planned latencies match observed latencies.
