Abstract :
The fiber-optic gyroscope (FOG) has been selected for the inertial navigation system (INS) function of the new airspace. We have completed the development of an intermediate grade closed-loop mode FOG (0.2 to 0.4 degree/h, 1 σ, 500 ppm, 1 σ) satisfying the environment requirement with the 500 meter mono-mode fiber, which is controlled exclusively by a high-speed digital signal processor (DSP). The control and compensation algorithms are implemented in the software and carried out by a single high speed DSP. The processor also takes care of the communication protocol via a parallel bus
