Abstract
In the last decade, catheter ablation, using radiofrequency energy, has revolutionized the treatment of patients with cardiac arrhythmias. The success of this therapy depends upon two factors: 1. Cardiac mapping: the ability to successfully characterize the arrhythmic circuit, and 2. Lesion formation: the ability to generate a lesion in the heart capable of abolishing the arrhythmia.
